Agartala, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Minister of Industries and Commerce in Tripura, Santana Chakma, announced on Thursday that a two-day ‘Business Conclave’ is set to take place here on February 7-8. The state anticipates receiving investment proposals totaling Rs 600 crore during the summit.
The Minister stated that the ‘Business Conclave’ aims to showcase Tripura's potential across various sectors, particularly in the service industries.
"We are optimistic about receiving proposals worth Rs 600 crore in fields such as Information Technology, education, healthcare, skill development, and tourism," she told the media, noting that over 100 investors and entrepreneurs from across the country are expected to participate in the conclave.
Previously, the state government facilitated business summits to explore opportunities for establishing industries focused on agar and rubber, Chakma mentioned.
During the conclave, Chief Minister Manik Saha will speak on the second day, February 8, to emphasize the state's potential in various sectors. Due to ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, the minister indicated that no investors or entrepreneurs from the neighboring country would be invited to this business conclave.
Chakma emphasized that Tripura provides a business-friendly environment, with advantages such as power surplus, strategic connectivity, and a streamlined single-window approval system. Investors will also enjoy various incentives, including tax holidays and financial assistance.
She noted that over the past five fiscal years, around 160 business units have been established in Tripura, garnering investments exceeding Rs 1,600 crore.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the ongoing 15-day-long 35th Industries and Commerce fair at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, located on the outskirts of the city. He stated that Tripura has now emerged as one of the fastest-growing states in the northeastern region.
He remarked that the BJP government is executing a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the state.
“With the current pace of government initiatives, no one can obstruct Tripura’s progress. The state’s average domestic product has seen a remarkable increase compared to earlier times. Tripura now ranks second in terms of per capita income among northeastern states, and is advancing rapidly,” stated Saha.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that the fair's objective is to exhibit the types of products produced in the state and to gauge consumer demand.
He added: “The quality of various products manufactured in the state has improved significantly. Confidence among industrialists has also grown. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored the importance of fostering this confidence, and the state government is making efforts to attract industrialists from outside to set up industries in Tripura.”
